The Lord will deliver us

Samuel Dhinakaran

“I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him.” (Psalm 91:15)

The Bible says, the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry. God says, “He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him” (Psalm 91:15). When we are righteous in God’s eyes, God will listen to our prayers and be with us in trouble. He will make a way for us and deliver us by His mighty outstretched arm. There is no doubt about God and His promises. Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age and grey hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” He is the Creator and the One who is able to sustain us because of His blessings. Because He is the merciful One, He forgives us when we acknowledge our sins before Him. His mercy is like the ocean. We can never measure it but only drown in it.

Once there was a drunkard named Jim whose longing for alcohol left him, as God transformed his life. After he surrendered His heart to Jesus, he used to go to church every day at 12 noon. He will pray there with tears for about 20 minutes and at the end of the prayer he’ll say “Jesus, this is Jim”. Every day he will do the same thing. One day he met with an accident and was admitted in the hospital. At 12 noon he was very sad that he could not go to the church to pray. As he was thinking, an image appeared before him and said, “Jim, this is Jesus”. Jim was very happy to have received this heavenly visitation.
It says in Hebrews 5:7, “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” Everyday Jesus would spend time communing with God the Father because He knew that only the Father can strengthen Him to endure the struggles of the world. Jesus also prayed in Gethsemane that the Father’s will be done. Such was Christ’s submission. God will hear our prayer too when we reverently submit to Him in all things. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Do you wish to know God’s secrets? Then spend time with Him and watch how He reveals His heart to you. Beloved, I encourage you this day to hold on to this promise and have faith in our Lord Jesus. Though times and seasons change, our God remains constant.

Prayer

Gracious Lord, it is in you I trust. I pray that Your hand leads me and guides me in the way I should walk. Lord, help me to walk in righteous ways that my prayers will reach your throne, from where my help would hastily reach me and rescue me. Let Your will be done in my life, Lord Jesus. Bless this day and enable me to do great things for Your glory. I ask all this in the matchless name of my Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
