Covenant keeping God – Stella Ramola

“May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.” (Psalm 20:1)
Dear friend, I am blessed to bring God’s Word to you from Psalm 20: which says, “May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.” Yes, today God will answer you when you call upon Him and He will save you from all troubles. So why does it say God of Jacob in this scripture? We see in the Bible that Jacob was a mighty prayer intercessor. That’s what we see in the life of Jacob for he would petition his prayers to God. In Genesis 35:3 he says, “Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”

In Genesis 28:15 we see that God made a covenant with Jacob saying, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” God had promised him that He would go wherever he goes and He will protect him in the day of distress. Yes, God is a promise keeping God. That’s what we see in Jacob’s life. God had protected Jacob and saved him from the hands of men who were trying to harm him. Not only that, God was with Jacob and was with his generations to come. That is why it is mentioned as the God of Jacob and God of Israel in the Bible. So when his descendants mention God they say the God of our forefather, the God of Jacob, the God of Israel. That’s how God has been keeping His covenant with His people.
Yes, even today God will keep this covenant with you. He will be with you wherever you go. On the day of distress He will answer you and help you. Jesus was born for us so that we will be protected on the day of our distress. He is the God who will remove all distress from our life and live in us to save us in the day of trouble. He will be the ever-present help in the day of trouble. So cling on to God as He keeps His covenant with you. He will never break His promise because He is a promise keeping God. Just like how He did for Jacob and his descendants He will do it for you and your descendants. So be of good cheer.
Prayer:
